CODE OF BEHAVIOR
STUDENT: I understand as a student of P.S.108K, that in order to be successful I agree to do the following:1. I will come to school on time each day.2. I will come to school ready to learn each day.3. I will have each day’s homework completed and ready to hand in.4. I will come to school dressed in my school uniform: Girls: Navy skirt, jumper, skort or pants; light blue shirt, Navy Cross tie, and navy cardigan.Boys: Navy pants, light blue shirt, navy tie, navy cardigan.5. I will respect my parents, my teachers, and my fellow students.6. I will respect all areas of the school building.7. I will follow all of the rules of the school.8. I will work to reach the highest expectations.9. I will settle my differences without fighting.10. I will be courteous: “please”, “excuse me”, and “thank you” will be part of my daily vocabulary.
When the student is absent, the parent must provide a note explaining the absence. Parents should leave their children in school all day. Appointments should be scheduled outside school hours and on school holidays, whenever possible. If a child needs to be dismissed early, he/she should bring a note to his/her teacher stating time and reason. Parents must sign the child out in the school office. Please note that one of the criteria for promotion to the next grade is 90% attendance.
If your child is late, please send a note or bring him/her to the office. Late arrival will prevent a student from receiving a perfect attendance award.PROMOTIONAL STANDARDSChancellor’s Regulations #A-501 establishes a system wide promotion policy with clearly defined standards for promotion for each grade. All students in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12 will meet or exceed rigorous academic standards in a performance –based core curriculum. Students must meet or exceed the promotion standards in order to be promoted to the next grade.
